Artscapes: Jell-O Art by Liz Hickok

Has art ever looked so yummy and jelly looked so artsy? San Francisco-based Liz Hickok has me totally blown away with her Jell-O creations. Hickok uses an array of media from video to photography to capture her ingenious gelatine creations before the decay process takes place. Lit from below to create a kaleidoscope of luminous colours and structures, you’ll never see jelly in the same light (pun intended). A taste of White House doesn’t sound that remote afterall.

Musical musings: Album cover art

Ever wondered what is the thing that makes you first pick up an album (let’s assume you’re completely clueless about the music)? It’s the album cover, I reckon for most. Yes, I’m superficial–appearance does matter, at least at the onset. Quirky or artsy ones attract me. Feast your eyes on the gallery of a mixture of artsy, wacky and cartoonish, and some simply out-of-this-world album cover art. Each is a masterpiece of the fusion of music and art.  For some, an equally unimaginable album title gives it a sprinkle of humour.
